INFORMATIONAL BOOT CAMP
Saturday April 14, 2012
Stewards and Members of Local 683,
There will be an important
Informational Boot camp on Saturday April 14, 2012. Some of the topics will be getting members to register to vote ( mail ballot ),
why its important now more than ever to elect politicians that are Labor friendly and "paycheck deception" ballot measure. Your way
of life as a Teamster is under attack this election cycle. We will not have to worry about our contracts, benefits and working conditions
if the wrong politicians and laws are put in place, because the good jobs and all the benefits of having a Teamster contract will
disappear. Please invite your Union Brothers and Sisters to attend this event and discuss the importance of registering to vote and
voting for labor friendly politicians and laws. If you need more information or would like to discuss further please call your Business
Agent. Click on links below to register to vote and view flyer.

CREST Ratifies New Contract
Members vote 60-14 to accept new contract. Major language improvements have been made
including seniority for bidding routes, vacation and first day pay for sick leave. Health and Welfare was reduced by $7
a week while increasing the quality of benefits. 3-4% increase in wages and improved pay structure for Bulk Drivers.
KRAFT FOODS Arbitration Award
Local 683 filed a grievance against Kraft Foods when it had drivers from the Ontario facility make
deliveries in San Diego. The grievance was taken to arbitration. The arbitrator's decision was the Company violated the
contract and ordered the Company to cease and desist from using drivers from Ontario in the San Diego area. The amount and to
whom back pay will be given to is being discussed.
7-Up Sales First Contract Ratified!
The long wait is over the Salesmen at Seven - Up are now Teamsters with a fully recommended Offer
from the Committee and Union. The New 3 year contact was ratified by a vote of 11 to 1. High Lights of the Contract: Base pay plus
commission, Paid Holidays, Seniority, Sick pay, Jury Duty, and Vacation Guarantees. Union Health and Welfare. Grievance and Arbitration.
Basically all the boiler plate language that any good Union contract needs. The salesmen at Seven - Up were last represented by the
Teamsters in 1986. Thanks to Todd Mendez for making it one of his priorities to get the salesmen back in the Teamsters where they
belong. Also the salesmen went through 13 months from the NLRB election until there ratification of the contract they stood together
and without their solidarity this would not have been possible. Thanks goes out to the committee Patrick Rebillard and Cideer Saco
for all their help.
